Effective date: 27 October 2026
These terms cover https://forumcpc.com and the Scholars’ Forum member submission service. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
1. The platform
Forum on Chinese Poetic Culture (ForumCPC) is an academic, nonprofit platform based in Hong Kong and supported by multiple collaborators. “We” refers to those responsible for administering this website. The name does not represent a claim of separate incorporation or that every named institution or contributor is a contracting operator. Enquiries may be sent to chinesepoetryforum@gmail.com.
These terms concern website participation. Journal publishing agreements, event registrations and services supplied by other organisations may have separate terms. Publication on Scholars’ Forum does not constitute acceptance by a journal or institutional endorsement.
2. Accounts and eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to apply for a member account. This account eligibility rule does not assign an age rating to the website’s academic content or restrict general readers from viewing public articles. Administrators create and issue accounts; the website does not provide public self-registration. Before an account is issued, the prospective member must confirm adult eligibility and agree to the then-current terms. Do not request or use an account for a minor.
Provide accurate account information, keep credentials confidential and use the account assigned to you. You may change your password through the member area. Notify us promptly if you suspect misuse. We may suspend access reasonably necessary to investigate compromise, enforce these terms or meet legal obligations. You may request account closure by email.
3. Submitting work
Choose the relevant Scholars’ Forum section and submit the title, article and any optional supporting material. All member submissions require editorial review before publication. We may accept, decline or return a submission for revision. Review does not guarantee accuracy, legal clearance, publication or a response within a fixed period.
Use appropriate citations and identify material created by others. Do not submit plagiarism, unlawful threats or harassment, defamatory allegations, unlawfully disclosed personal information, malware, spam or content that infringes another person’s rights. Research or educational purposes do not automatically permit copying an entire protected work or image. Applicable quotation, fair-dealing and fair-use exceptions depend on their conditions.
Do not upload confidential or highly sensitive information. An uploaded image may be accessible through its file URL even while its article is awaiting review. Remove unnecessary location metadata and obtain any consent needed to publish identifiable people or private information.
4. Copyright and the permission you give
You retain the copyright and other rights you hold in your work. By submitting material, you confirm that you own it or have sufficient authority or legal permission for the proposed use. Please identify any third-party restrictions when submitting.
You grant the website administrators a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store and review the submission and, if accepted, reproduce, format, display and distribute it through the website for its academic purposes. This includes necessary technical copies, accessible formats, backups and brief attributed excerpts or thumbnails linking to the published article in ForumCPC’s own announcements. Service providers may process the material only as needed to perform these functions. This permission does not transfer ownership or authorise unrelated commercial resale.
Routine formatting, accessibility changes and correction of obvious typographical errors may be made. Substantive changes or translations require agreement with the contributor. Authorship and applicable moral rights remain respected; these terms contain no blanket waiver of them.
You may withdraw an unpublished submission or request removal of published material by contacting us. We will consider the request promptly, including privacy, rights, editorial-record and legal concerns. The permission above ends for future public use once removal is agreed and implemented, except for copies necessarily retained for legal, security or backup purposes. We cannot recall independent copies made by readers, search engines or archives.
5. Reading and reusing website material
Website content belongs to its respective rights holders. A permission granted by a contributor to ForumCPC does not grant every reader an unrestricted reuse licence. Follow any specific licence shown with the material and applicable legal exceptions; obtain permission for other uses. Attribution alone does not replace permission where permission is required.
6. Moderation and complaints
We may restrict, correct or remove content, and suspend or close an account, for a reasonable editorial reason, a breach of these terms, a credible rights complaint, a security concern or a legal requirement. Where appropriate and lawful, we will explain the decision and allow the affected person to respond. Urgent risks may require action before notice. Appeals can be sent to the contact email with the article URL and reasons for reconsideration.
For copyright, privacy or other rights complaints, provide the affected URL, a description of the material and your rights, an explanation of the concern and a reliable reply address. Send only information necessary to assess the complaint. We may share relevant allegations with the contributor to obtain a response, while limiting unnecessary personal disclosure.
Repeated infringement may lead to account termination in appropriate circumstances. This general complaint procedure does not represent that ForumCPC has registered a US DMCA agent or qualifies for a statutory safe harbour. Any applicable formal legal notice procedure remains available.
7. Privacy and communication
The Privacy Policy explains the handling of account, submission and technical information. Agreement to these terms is not blanket consent to unrelated data use, promotional mail or optional tracking. Necessary account and editorial messages may be sent to your registered email. Newsletter subscriptions are separate.
8. External material and availability
Articles express their authors’ views. External links, embedded media and separate publishers’ services are controlled by their respective providers. We aim to maintain a useful academic resource but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, freedom from error or the accuracy of every contribution. Verify information where reliance could have significant consequences.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including applicable liability for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing removes mandatory consumer, privacy, intellectual-property or other statutory rights. These terms do not impose a blanket indemnity, mandatory arbitration or a class-action waiver on members.
9. Applicable law and disputes
Subject to mandatory laws that apply to the person or activity concerned, these terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The courts of Hong Kong have nonexclusive jurisdiction, without depriving you of a court or remedy available under mandatory applicable law, including applicable US law. Please contact us to seek a practical resolution where possible; doing so is not a condition that removes a statutory right or deadline.
10. Updates
We will identify the effective date of revised terms and give reasonable notice of material changes. Where fresh agreement is required, we will obtain it before applying the change to member participation. Changes will not retroactively expand the licence for an existing submission without appropriate agreement.
